Life beyond the stratosphere: conquering the Moon, space stations

Session
Session Description:
Space can be a source of visual and technological inspiration for architects and designers. Space represents vast expanses and unique shapes that can inspire original and innovative architectural solutions.

The creation of rocket and space technology and space exploration require advanced technologies that optimize and reduce the mass of products without sacrificing strength. This is critical for space projects where every kilogram matters. One such area is additive technology (3D printing). At our session you will learn what types of additive technologies are already actively used in the space industry and have significantly displaced previously traditional subtractive manufacturing methods.
The development of such technologies may encourage architects and designers to integrate new materials and technologies into their designs.

Space helps to rethink the concept of space, its utilization, and the amount of material used for fabrication. “A space approach” can lead to functional and harmonious architectural solutions, lower manufacturing costs and less waste.

Space research emphasizes the importance of sustainability, conservation of resources, use of locally available materials, which can inspire designers to create environmentally friendly and energy efficient solutions.

At our session we will talk about the creation and testing of complex space equipment, about projects of interplanetary flights, exploration of other planets and satellites. We will touch upon the issues of ergonomics, unification, modularity, which are important for long stays in confined spaces.
Speakers of the session, including test astronauts, heads, scientists and specialists of leading specialized universities will share their “space” developments and experience, thus opening new horizons for creativity and innovation in architecture and design.
We look forward to seeing you at our space session!
