The discussion on the role of architects and designers in creating a universal inclusive environment is organized on the initiative of the CF “Club of Good Men” with the support of ICMAiD https://mcmarch.ru/ .
The term “universal design” was introduced by Ronald Mace, an architect confined to a wheelchair since childhood, to describe the concept of creating a living space that is aesthetically pleasing and equally comfortable for everyone, regardless of health, age, ability or life status.
The construction of cities and the development of territories, taking into account human diversity in the 21st century should be the norm for thinking and responsible professionals integrated into the global architectural process.
We are all living people and at any moment we can become vulnerable: we break our legs, give birth to children, travel, choosing extreme routes and loads, have elderly parents. To develop an accessible environment means to help not someone else, but, first of all, ourselves.
During the discussion we will discuss why mankind, having managed to send people into space and creating AI, cannot solve the problem of ramps. We will also present young architects with a wide range of opportunities for creativity and professional realization. We will consider successful architectural and design solutions in the field of accessible environment that meet the needs of customers in various spheres: from the needs of people with disabilities, NGOs, cultural and educational projects, to the design of offices of high-tech companies.
