The Zotov Center in Moscow opened the city festival “Architecture for People” and the exhibition “Emotions of Architecture”

The city festival “Architecture for People” and the exhibition “Emotions of Architecture”, which will last until January 12, 2025, opened at the Zotov Center in Moscow. During the month, participants will be able to attend various events of the cultural and educational program.

The event is organized by the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of Moscow and the Zotov Center with the support of the Donstroy development company. The project is curated by the visionary architectural bureau Megabudka.

The day before, a press conference dedicated to the opening of the festival was held, which was attended by representatives of the authorities, architectural bureaus, developers and the media. At the event they discussed the role of architecture in modern society, its influence on mood and emotions.

“From the point of view of architecture as a science, there is now a process of rethinking its philosophy. It is expressed in a new style, which has been defined as emo-tech. We live in a world where it is difficult to surprise and amaze. Therefore, to be relevant, modern architecture today concentrates the brightness of ideas and emotions, becomes emotional, theatrical, dramatic. It surprises, attracts attention, helps to concentrate on sensations”, - said the chief architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov.

“The world is changing, people are changing and, of course, the approach to projects is changing. Today our focus is shifting towards the development of impressions, creating a whole range of positive emotions, a sense of stability and security for the residents of our buildings. We address this issue by developing a variety of additional life scenarios, the basis for which is an apartment, a house, a courtyard, and the urban area surrounding our projects. Our main task is to create projects that are relevant now and for years to come. This is both an inspiring challenge and a great responsibility of developers before the client, before the city, before time”, - said the General Director of Donstroy Alena Deryabina.

According to the organizers, not only architecture itself is important, but also how people perceive it. That is why one of the festival's tasks is the educational function: broadcasting the value of architecture, its principles and meanings.

“The Architecture for People Festival is the very bridge that reveals to people new facets of the broad concept of “art” - the art of architecture, involving people in it, making architecture more understandable. We are also solving the problem of raising the prestige of the architectural profession. For a long time there was a generation gap in the architectural environment in Moscow. We used all our events to tell people as much as possible about this profession. And today our festival continues this tradition, but in a lighter form, through playful entertainment techniques,” says Irina Kuznetsova, curator of exhibition, publishing and educational projects of the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of Moscow.

This opinion is supported by the staff of the Zotov Center, where the festival and exhibition are held.

“In the Zotov Center we show different facets of architecture as art, create an opportunity for people to look at architecture more broadly, involve visitors in its discussion through a dialogue with architects, through new experience that they get at our expositions”, - said the general director of the Zotov Center Daria Filippova.

The festival curators from the architectural firm Megabudka believe that “Architecture for People” is an event that is unlike any other event in the field.
