New cities are being actively built in the world. The reasons for construction can be divided into three: new cities as a project to attract investment; new cities as the implementation of the task of increasing urbanisation, resettlement of the population that cannot afford housing in large cities or as a measure to concentrate the population in a particular point for the implementation of an industrial or logistics megaproject; new city as a PR project of the country's capabilities and its technologies (of course, a pleasant bonus is the increase in the quality of life of people in such cities).
Here are the projects that we consider interesting for architects and urban planners (not all of them are successful, but all of them are interesting for professional analysis).
Russia: Innopolis, Tatarstan; Dobrograd, Vladimir region; Magas, Ingushetia; L-Town, Chelyabinsk region; Kub-A, Krasnodar region. There are also some very recent projects that we are going to talk about at the Congress.
Projects in the CIS: Arkadag, Turkmenistan; Asman, Kyrgyzstan; New Tashkent, Uzbekistan; New Baku, Azerbaijan; G4 City, Kazakhstan.
Africa, Middle East, China: many bright projects are being implemented, let us mention a few. Forest City or Green Roofs and Chongan. And here are more examples: Nusantra, Indonesia; Diamniado Lake City, Senegal; EcoAtlantic City, Nigeria; And we have already written about the new Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and Saudi Arabia's project THE LINE.
