Today let's talk about YAC and their vibrant competition for architects and designers

An organizer of design and architecture projects for young architects and designers, recent graduates and students.

YAC has several objectives: first, the organizer aims to encourage design-related research by regularly submitting real architectural or urban planning projects to inspire stakeholders and generate solutions to support and provide physical places for an increasingly fluid and dynamic human activity.

With 10 years in business and 9 Pritzker Prize winners on the jury, it makes for a very special project.

Here are their results they talk about:

+50 organized competitions, +140 participating countries, +1 million euro prize for young architects, +12 realized projects.

❗️ And this is the competition they have now announced.

Iron Island is a competition between Manni Company1, CNR-IRBIM and YAC to write the future of ancient oil platforms.

Off the coast of Italy, particularly in the northern Adriatic Sea, there are many offshore platforms. As they were installed on a small sea area, they may well be the first model for the beneficial transformation and redevelopment of these islands of steel and concrete.

Like the wonders of the ancient world, the great industrial archaeologies carry a charm of abandonment, that mammoth and sublime melancholy that makes them magical in their own destruction and decay.

Old industrial buildings are titans of concrete and steel, towering in a landscape corroded by vegetation and time, like the carcasses of huge ancient monsters that inhabited the world in different times, spawned by another civilization.

IMPORTANT: the theme is very close to the nomination of our contest about life on the water. We will follow the results of the YAC and will definitely try to present the final works on our site!
