New opportunities and challenges

Creative industries is a sector of the economy related to intellectual activity, developing mainly on ideas and technologies, representing their synthesis. It includes research and development, design, television, music, fashion, architecture, software development and other areas. Creative industries are spoken of at the governmental level as a powerful creative force capable of becoming the driver and foundation of the economy, providing the production of meanings, ideas and images, i.e. the most demanded product in the information society. In Russia, until recently, it was about 3.2%, but the industry is focused on growth. Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to assist it, to build the architecture, to structure this sector of the economy, and supported the initiative to adopt a new law. The resolution enshrines the basic concepts in the creative industries sector, regulates their list taking into account the UN laws. By 2030, according to the government's concept, the share of the “creative” sector in Russian GDP should grow from about 3.5% to 6%, including by using the strengths of regional specialization and creating a territorial infrastructure of creative entrepreneurship.

“I am convinced that urbanism, architecture, design, decoration of space both inside and its appearance, construction of urban environment have a colossal impact on the quality of life of citizens. Our country has land resources and areas, we can afford to create something with a swing. Today we have a unique opportunity for this: completely new spaces are being laid down in our country, new districts or new cities are actually being built,” said Denis Borisovich Kravchenko, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, author and one of the initiators of the law, during the plenary session of the International Congress of Young Architects and Designers.

“Today we are building a new multipolar world in a new way and, actually united with the world majority, with the countries that are now called developing countries, we have opportunities to implement the most powerful projects,” - emphasized the initiator and author of the law.
